The St. Mary’s University Faculty Association (StMUFA) condemns the Alberta government’s recent use of the notwithstanding clause to force teachers back to work. Bill 2 undermines teachers’ fundamental charter rights to strike and the Alberta Teacher’s Association’s right to collective bargaining, and is a sign of the deep disrespect this government has towards education. As faculty who train the teachers of tomorrow, we stand in solidarity with and express our support for the teachers of Alberta and the ATA.
